Chennai: DMK general secretary Duraimurugan and Tamil Manila Congress president G K Vasan on Sunday criticised the functioning of TVK ministers in the assembly. TVK ministers S Ramesh and Keerthana hit back saying it was DMK which was obstructing the proceedings in the assembly.“Ministers concerned do not respond to the questions raised by MLAs, but ministers who are not related to the department are responding. This response too does not offer a direct answer to questions. The ministers say what they have prepared instead giving relevant responses,” Duraimurugan said. “Earlier, ministers used to note down the complaints brought up by MLAs and prepare response with the help of the concerned department secretaries. But now no such thing is happening,” he added. DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi said the response of the ministers in the assembly was intended only for social media reels.Vasan told reporters in Villupuram that TVK ministers and MLAs should run the assembly in a constructive manner as people are watching them live.HR&CE minister Ramesh hit back saying DMK was disrupting the assembly proceedings. He accused DMK legislators of behaving “inappropriately” in the assembly and using unparliamentary language. “Former ministers were disrupting proceedings by shouting and barging towards ruling-party members. They are using foul language when ministers speak. They stand up and shout without allowing anyone to speak. They even charge towards us. DMK is trying to create unsavoury scenes in the assembly,” he said.Industries minister Keerthana taunted DMK MLAs, saying that they are “lamenting”, unable to counter TVK ministers in the assembly.
