People will wipe out SP in 2027 assembly polls: Yogi

Lucknow: Launching a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party and its president Akhilesh Yadav, chief minister Yogi Adiyanath on Sunday said that the people of the state will completely wipe out the party in the 2027 assembly elections.“SP never considered poor, underprivileged and marginalised communities as it always placed family interests above public welfare,” the CM said while addressing a programme to announce social security plans for cooks in govt primary schools. The announcements included increase in honorarium from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh in case of accidents, cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh and an increase in the amount provided for sarees from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.“This could have been done earlier as well, but it did not happen because the poor were never an issue in Samajwadi Party’s agenda,” he said.Taking a swipe at Akhilesh Yadav over his recent remarks that members of his family being MPs has helped in ensuring unity within the party, Yogi said, “Babua says all members of his family are MPs and that is why SP is relevant in the present scenario. We firmly believe that the people of Uttar Pradesh will wipe out the SP forever in the next elections because these people exploited the poor for the sake of their family.”Highlighting the transformation of govt schools, Yogi said that before 2017, schools run by the basic education department appeared “deserted and dilapidated”.“At least 19 standards had been fixed for public schools under the govt’s ‘Operation Kayakalp’ and schools are being equipped with amenities accordingly,” he said.He alleged that previous SP govts turned UP into a region which remained dominated by criminals and lawlessness. “The SP top brass encouraged land encroachments, compromised with the safety of women and presided over riots and violence,” he said, adding that development had come to a standstill under the SP govt.“If someone, like ‘Babua’, wakes up at noon, gets ready by 2 pm, goes to gym at 5 pm and returns at 7 pm to hold his ‘mehfil’ (social gathering), how will they find time for the state,” he said.“Now, under the BJP govt, if anyone tries to target girls and students, he will get a one-way ticket to the abode of Yamraj,” he said. The CM alleged that SP workers facilitated theft of food meant for schoolchildren under the mid-day meal scheme and claimed that the state witnessed visible development after it became free from riots and curfews under BJP.
