Bengaluru: A 53-year-old farmer travelling with his family on a KSRTC bus from Devanahalli to Andhra Pradesh’s Gorantla lost over Rs 1.9 lakh from his bank account after his mobile phone went missing during the journey.K Srinivasa Reddy, a resident of Seegehalli, told police he was travelling on Aug 11 when he realised his phone had gone missing. He searched the bus, but couldn’t find it. Reddy subsequently reported the loss on Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.The missing phone soon became a tool for cyberfraud. Miscreants gained access to it and sim card and siphoned off Rs 1,95,000 from Reddy’s bank account.The farmer learnt about the suspicious transactions after receiving information from his bank. He contacted cyber helpline 1930 and lodged a complaint with Devanahalli police Wednesday.
