Jaipur: Jaipur authorities launched their first systematic enforcement drive against coaching establishments on Gopalpura Bypass Road after a Supreme Court rebuke, sealing 13 facilities in two days and preparing against more operators before the court deadline.Jaipur Development Authority’s enforcement wing sealed three coaching centres, four libraries and a gym Thursday, followed by five more coaching centres Friday. Officials said the inspections focused on premises functioning from unsafe spaces, particularly basements, and other structures flagged as hazardous for students and staff.Confirming the action, JDA enforcement branch DIG Anand Sharma said notices had already been issued across most of the coaching belt. Officials said the authority intends to move against at least 25 establishments before Aug 27, compliance deadline fixed by the apex court. Next Supreme Court hearing is scheduled for Sept 15. Planned action will form part of state’s compliance affidavit.“. We will complete the process of issuing closure notices against all establishments by by Aug 26 and put all information in the compliance affidavits,” an enforcement official said.Even so, officials said the drive is being calibrated to avoid disrupting abruptly thousands of students preparing for exams. Many smaller institutes operate on limited finances and may not immediately shift to compliant premises. The authority is therefore prioritising most dangerous sites while continuing notices and documentation for remaining centres too.“During our survey we came to know that thousands of students from middle class families of different district towns and villages study at such smaller institutions. Their examinations are due from Nov. We also need to be careful to ensure that their future is safe,” stated an official.
