Agartala: Cuban ambassador to India Juan Carlos Aguleiro on Wednesday arrived in Tripura for a three-day visit to attend two CPI(M)-organised programmes, marking the birth centenary of revolutionary leader and former Cuban president Fidel Castro.Aguleiro was received at the CPI(M) state headquarters by former CM Manik Sarkar and party state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury. He later met other party leaders. He was accompanied by the embassy’s first secretary, Mike Diaj Perej.On Thursday, the ambassador addressed a CPI(M) meeting in south Tripura’s Sabroom as part of the centenary celebrations. He spoke about India-Cuba relations, particularly cooperation in digital infrastructure and technology.Aguleiro also discussed Castro’s life, Cuba’s history and the country’s development under socialist governance. He highlighted cooperation between India and Cuba in international forums, including mutual support on global issues, development and solidarity.
