Jhunjhunu: Family members and supporters of a woman who died following childbirth at a govt sub-district hospital in Ajitgarh town of Sikar district staged a sit-in from Monday night to Tuesday evening and allegedly vandalised hospital property amid accusations of medical negligence.Daulat Jeevandaya, a resident of Sanwalpura Tanwaran Dampura, was admitted Monday due to labour complications. After delivering her baby, she suffered excessive bleeding and was referred to a hospital in Jaipur but died while being taken there, said police.Her family brought the body back to the Ajitgarh hospital late Monday night and began a protest demanding action against those they held responsible. As tensions rose, protesters smashed glass panels and damaged other hospital property Tuesday.Police were deployed in large numbers as talks were held with the protesters by district officials, including Shrimadhopur Sub-Divisional Officer Saurabh Bhambu and Neem Ka Thana Deputy SP Sushil Maan. An agreement was reached by Tuesday evening to end the protest.Under the settlement, Dr Vijay Saini, named by protesters, would be transferred to Jaipur headquarters. The administration will form an investigative committee to examine the case, with a report expected within three days. The family was assured compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and a contractual job for one family member. Officials also agreed to fill vacant posts at the hospital within two months.Protesters had sought ₹1 crore in compensation, suspension of the doctor and criminal charges. The protest was called off after assurances that further action would follow the investigation. Both Congress and BJP members were present during the protest in support of the family’s demands.
