Hisar: A political row within Haryana BJP escalated on Saturday after Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma accused former chief minister Bhajan Lal and his son of “electoral misconduct”, alleging they had won polls through “badmashi”.Responding sharply, BJP leader Bhavya Bishnoi termed the remarks “unfortunate” and said, “Those who have reached the Rajya Sabha through others’ favour are now talking about winning elections.” Calling Bhajan Lal a “PhD in politics”, he added that any disparaging comment against him was “an insult not only to the family but also to his supporters”.Bhavya warned such statements could have electoral consequences. “This is the same vote base that gave the BJP new social ground,” he said, urging the party leadership to take cognisance. He also demanded an apology. “Such language is not used even against political opponents and does not align with BJP’s culture,” he added.In a separate post, he invoked a proverb hinting at inexperience and lack of grassroots connect, while avoiding naming anyone directly.Kuldeep Bishnoi, who is in the United States, also reacted in a veiled warning, writing that if provoked, the consequences could be sweeping.The controversy has triggered unease within the state BJP, with leaders and supporters terming Sharma’s remarks “highly condemnable” and seeking action, signalling that the fallout may not subside soon.
