Nawanshahr: Two youths, including a 15-year-old, died and another 15-year-old is battling for life after the three friends allegedly consumed poison at a house in Garh Padhana village on Monday. Police and their families suspect they may have lost money in an online game.The 15-year-old boy died on Monday night, while Dilpreet, 21, at whose house the three had consumed poison, died during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Their other 15-year-old friend is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.Rahon SHO Satnam Singh said preliminary inquiries with the families indicated that the three may have lost around Rs 5-7 lakh in an online game and feared facing their families. “They together consumed poison and Dilpreet’s family noticed when they found them vomiting and gasping for breath,” the SHO said.Police recovered Dilpreet’s mobile phone, which was locked, and are trying to access its data. “Only Dilpreet had a mobile phone and he lost the money from his account,” Singh said.The minor was cremated on Wednesday. Dilpreet’s body was kept in the mortuary pending the arrival of his paternal uncle’s family from abroad.The SHO said the third boy was not yet fit to give a statement. As none of the families had filed a complaint, police initiated proceedings under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
