Over 200 Leaders Detained, Including Rahul & Priyanka

Several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, were detained by the Delhi Police on Friday, 5 August, as they marched to the the Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest against unemployment, inflation and price rise.

Other leaders, including Harish Rawat, P Chidambaram, and Deepender Hooda, were also detained.

Gandhi earlier slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government over amid nationwide protests organised by the party over the issues.

Addressing the media, Gandhi said that there is an “onset of dictatorship in India” and that the RSS is now “controlling all independent institutions.”

Meanwhile, several party workers were also detained amid demonstrations as Section 144 was imposed in New Delhi districts on Friday morning.
