Bahraich: Senior IAS officer Akshay Tripathi, a 2014-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre officer and outgoing Bahraich District Magistrate, has been appointed Private Secretary to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on August 8, 2026.Tripathi’s move to central deputation is expected to end his tenure as Bahraich DM, with the district likely to get a new incumbent shortly.Tripathi’s tenure in Bahraich is particularly noted for the relocation of Bharathapur village from the core area of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division to a newly developed settlement, Bharatpur, in the buffer zone. The relocation provided affected families with permanent houses, drinking water, electricity, schools, Anganwadi centres and paved roads, while aiming to reduce human-wildlife conflict and support wildlife conservation. Before serving as DM, Tripathi held various responsibilities in the Uttar Pradesh government, including in IT and Electronics, NRI affairs and e-governance.
