Hyderabad: The city traffic police on Wednesday conducted a special Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments (ROPE) drive in Ameerpet, removing unauthorised encroachments and improperly parked vehicles that were obstructing traffic flow and pedestrian movement.The drive was carried out under the directions of joint commissioner of police (traffic) D Joel Davis and supervised by additional DCP (traffic-I) A Ramulu and ACP (traffic), Khairatabad Zone, S Mohan Kumar. Personnel from the Punjagutta traffic police station executed the operation.According to the traffic police, the objective of the operation was to reclaim footpaths for pedestrians, improve vehicular movement, and reduce congestion in one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors. Cases were registered against violators under the relevant legal provisions.Officials said similar ROPE drives will continue across Hyderabad to keep roads and footpaths free from encroachments and illegal parking. The traffic police urged shop owners, street vendors, and motorists to comply with traffic regulations and refrain from obstructing public spaces, reiterating their commitment to ensuring safer and more accessible roads for commuters and pedestrians.
