New Delhi: Police apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly violating visa conditions during a verification drive across central and south Delhi, officials said Wednesday.Police apprehended 22-year-old Nayeem Ahmed and verified his travel documents after being tipped off while patrolling in Paharganj on the intervening night of Aug 3 and 4. Officials said his passport and immigration records revealed that he had remained in India beyond the stay permitted under his visa.During questioning, Ahmed allegedly disclosed that several other Bangladeshi nationals were residing in Delhi, violating visa conditions. Based on his inputs, police raided a flat in Hauz Rani in south Delhi, where 10 more were held.Their documents revealed that all of them had entered India on double-entry visas, under which each visit permitted a maximum stay of 15 days, police said. However, they had overstayed without obtaining the required authorisation.The Foreigners Regional Registration Office has initiated legal proceedings, issued restriction orders and shifted all 11 to the Sewa Dham detention centre in Shahzada Bagh pending deportation. Police seized 11 Bangladeshi passports, 11 double-entry visas and 14 mobile phones during the operation.
