TN budget 2026-27:Rs 23 crore earmarked to preserve folk arts

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu govt has allocated Rs 23 crore in the 2026-27 budget for the preservation and promotion of traditional folk arts. It will cover 200 selected folk art groups, with financial assistance to support 100 days of performances annually.Presenting the budget in the assembly, finance minister N Marie Wilson said the govt wants to protect Tamil Nadu’s rich folk art traditions while creating more performance opportunities and providing a steady source of income for folk artistes across the state.
