Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught a village computer entrepreneur (VCE) attached to Biliya gram panchayat in Patan district while allegedly accepting a Rs 200 bribe from a citizen for issuing an income and assessment certificate.According to the ACB, it received information that applicants seeking income certificates, land records and other official documents were allegedly being charged amounts ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 1,000 over and above the prescribed govt fee. Based on the input, the bureau laid a trap and caught the accused allegedly accepting the bribe.A VCE is a computer operator deployed at village panchayats under Gujarat’s e-Gram Vishwagram Project. VCEs deliver digital govt and citizen services through more than 14,000 eGram centres across rural Gujarat.
