Gurgaon: A threat email sent to senior Haryana govt officials on Friday sparked a major security alert across the city, prompting extensive searches at the mini secretariat, district court complex and several schools. The message threatened bomb blasts by Aug 15, if FIRs registered against ‘CJP students’ — an apparent reference to the protesters at the recent agitation organised by Cockroach Janta Party — were not withdrawn.The email, sent to the deputy commissioner (DC) and additional DC, warned of bomb blasts at multiple locations, including the DC office, Haryana courts and Parliament, where it threatened that blasts will be carried out on Aug 5. The message carried separatist slogans, claimed responsibility in the name of a Khalistan-linked outfit.Senior police officers said no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the searches. Cyber teams have begun examining the email to trace its origin and identify the sender. The district court complex was placed on alert after a similar mail was received on the official email of the local bar association.Police launched extensive security checks — bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed to search the premises thoroughly, while personnel conducted anti-sabotage checks and monitored entry and exit points.As a precautionary measure, checks were conducted at several schools, including Shri Ram School in DLF Phase 3, and Heritage School in Sector 53. School authorities coordinated with police and carried out internal security checks.Police officials said educational institutions saw limited activity on Friday, a state holiday in Haryana on account of the 87th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh. “The number of schools that received the threat will be ascertained once schools reopen on Saturday or Monday. We immediately sent police teams and rescue teams to the schools from which we received information about the threat mails,” a police officer said.
