Guwahati: Singer and music composer Papon on Monday appealed to people across India and abroad to support Assam’s flood-affected population, describing the situation as a humanitarian crisis.Taking to X, the singer urged citizens, organisations and well-wishers to come forward with assistance for those affected. His appeal comes as several districts of the state continue to grapple with the aftermath of floods that have displaced thousands and damaged homes, livelihoods and infrastructure.In his post on X, Papon said, “I want to notice to what’s happening in Assam right now. The floods this year have caused unimaginable devastation. Assam experiences heavy rainfall and flooding almost every year, but the situation this time is beyond anything many of us have seen.”He said entire villages were washed away, several people were missing and countless animals died. “It is a bad situation, so please spread the word. I request everyone in India, and across the world, to please look towards Assam,” he said.“We must all come together with whatever we can do and we need to do it quick . We all are doing our bit here,” he added.He said local groups were working to assist those affected but added that the scale of the disaster required wider support. His appeal has been widely shared online, with users expressing solidarity with flood-hit communities.
