Anchor: Foundation stone laid for ₹3.6-crore facility announced last year; auditorium expected to be ready in four monthsLudhiana: The long-awaited indoor volleyball auditorium at SCD Govt College has moved from the drawing board to the ground, with the foundation stone for the Rs 3.6-crore project being laid this week. The facility was announced in Nov 2025 by then Punjab cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora.College authorities said the project, expected to be completed within four months, will provide international-standard infrastructure for volleyball players and is among the first govt-run indoor volleyball facilities in Punjab.Officials said the auditorium would address a long-pending demand for a world-class indoor training venue, benefiting both college students and aspiring volleyball players from Ludhiana. The facility is expected to help athletes prepare for national and international competitions without having to travel outside the city for indoor practice.SCD Govt College principal Gursharanjit Singh Sandhu said the institution has a rich volleyball legacy and has produced several players who have represented Ludhiana, Punjab and India at various levels. The new auditorium, he said, would further strengthen that tradition and inspire future generations of athletes.The foundation stone ceremony was attended by officials from the district administration, sports department, college management and alumni.
