CHENNAI: The state advocate general Vijay Narayan has reconstituted the enrolment committee of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, replacing two of its three members, after stating that the previous committee had initiated the enrolment process without the knowledge or approval of the interim arrangement headed by him.In an official communication sent on Monday to the secretary of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the advocate general said that the two members Priscilla Pandian and D Saravanan are substituted with R C Paul Kanagaraj and Girirajan, while K Balu is retained. The advocate general said the previous enrolment committee had proceeded with the enrolment process without consulting him, in violation of the interim arrangement put in place by the Bar Council of India with the Advocate General heading the arrangement during the pendency of the Bar Council elections. “A notice had been uploaded on the Bar Council’s website directing certain candidates to appear before the committee on July 27 and 28 for enrolment without the knowledge of the Bar Council secretary,” the official said in the communication. The newly constituted committee has been directed to take charge of the enrolment process with immediate effect and will continue to function until further orders.
