NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday claimed that the party’s team members could be arrested tonight based on “new inputs”, and urged protesters to continue the movement across the country even if arrests take place.“We are extremely happy and relieved that Sonam Sir has ended his hunger strike. He had been fasting for more than 26 days, and his decision to end the strike was taken for the sake of the students. He did not want any cases to be filed against any student, and that was his condition. We would really like to thank Sonam Sir. By putting his own life at risk, he awakened people across the country, ” said CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke.Abhijeet said the demand of the country’s youth was “very simple and clear” — that Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. He added that the protest at Jantar Mantar would continue until Pradhan stepped down, saying there was “only one solution” if the BJP or the government wanted to resolve the issue: the minister’s resignation.“What Sonam Sir has done for this nation and for its future generations will always be remembered in history. We thank him for taking this step to raise awareness across the country. It has made a significant difference, and because of his efforts, such a large movement has emerged across India. Now, our protest continues because this movement has grown into a nationwide campaign. The demand of the country’s youth is very simple and very clear, there is only one demand. Dharmendra Pradhan should resign. The protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan steps down. If the BJP or the government wants to resolve the issue, there is only one solution. Dharmendra Pradhan must resign, ” added CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke.CJP representative Ashutosh Ranka said the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar would continue until Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.CJP representative shared the schedule for high-level deliberations and upcoming media briefings related to the ongoing protest. “There is a meeting with JP Nadda Ji at the CCI scheduled for 12:30. As far as we have been told, Jitendra Singh Ji might also be present there. Whatever is discussed will be shared with you all. We have also organised a press conference at 11:00, where we will provide more details,” Ashutosh Ranka told ANI. He clarified that while Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike had ended following certain assurances from the government, the main objective of the movement remained unchanged — seeking accountability from the minister. Ranka detailed the progress regarding the negotiations, noting, “We were constantly requesting Sonam Ji to end her hunger strike as her health was continuously deteriorating. We are very proud that Sonam Ji has made the government accept two of our conditional demands: no legal action will be taken against any of the protesters, and adequate compensation will be provided. Although the return details for that are yet to come, Sonam Ji has officially ended her hunger strike.“Ranka stressed that the conclusion of the hunger strike did not mean an end to the protest, reiterating the party’s demand for ministerial accountability and continuation of the agitation. “However, we want to make it very clear that this protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. His resignation has been the core demand of this movement from the very beginning, and until Pradhan Ji resigns, we are not going to step back,” he added Commenting on a video released by the Prime Minister earlier, Ranka said that the government is feeling the weight of the public outcry and urged for immediate action. “Finally, we noticed that for the first time, the Prime Minister had to release a selfie video at 12 midnight, which shows that the pressure is very high. Prime Minister, you said that today you want to take very strict action; for us the strictest action would be to remove Dharmendra Pradhan. If you remove him quickly, then we will believe that you are truly serious about the youth of this country,’ he added. Earlier, Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh after receiving a written assurance from the Union government on the NEET examination issue and reforms in the country’s competitive testing system.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured strict action against those responsible for alleged paper leaks and said the Union Cabinet would consider a draft Bill proposing Fast-Track Courts and stringent punishment for offenders.(With agency inputs)
