Silchar: Three persons were arrested, and suspected heroin worth over ₹1.5 crore was seized in Dima Hasao on Saturday.Acting on a tip-off, a Dima Hasao police team searched the Guwahati-bound Rangiya Express when it arrived at New Haflong railway station. The three accused, who boarded the train from Silchar, were intercepted and their belongings checked.Police recovered 18 plastic soap cases containing 220.6g of suspected heroin and seized three mobile phones from them.The accused were taken into custody. A senior police officer said they were being interrogated to trace the source of the consignment, its intended destination and the wider network allegedly using the Barak Valley-Guwahati rail route for drug trafficking.
