Hisar: A fresh political controversy has erupted in Haryana after INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala allegedly used abusive language against Congress MLA Bharat Singh Beniwal during a public meeting in Sirsa’s Ellenabad, triggering a sharp exchange between the two leaders. The row began after a video from Chautala’s meeting in Gudiyakhera village surfaced on social media. In the video, Chautala is purportedly heard making disparaging remarks about Beniwal, questioning his ability to raise public issues in the assembly and referring to his throat ailment.Addressing the gathering, Chautala allegedly mocked Beniwal’s speaking ability and claimed he could not effectively represent the constituency in the Haryana assembly. He also highlighted development works undertaken during his tenure and said he continued to contribute to village development even after losing the 2024 Assembly election. The remarks drew a strong response from Beniwal, who rejected suggestions that he had remained inactive in the assembly.“I folded my hands for the development of Ellenabad and for its people, not for personal favours,” Beniwal said in an apparent rebuttal to Chautala.Escalating the political attack, the Congress MLA alleged that despite serving multiple terms in the assembly, Chautala was remembered more for confrontational conduct than for ensuring the constituency’s development. Beniwal maintained that he had consistently raised issues concerning Ellenabad through speeches and written submissions.Beniwal also clarified that he has been undergoing treatment and speech therapy following a throat infection and would soon resume addressing public meetings.Responding to the criticism, Chautala declined to engage directly with his detractors, saying he was focused on public issues and had no obligation to answer every allegation. He also dismissed criticism from local Congress leaders, claiming they lacked grassroots support.Chautala, a multiple-term MLA from Ellenabad seat, lost to Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal by around 15,000 votes in the 2024 assembly election.
