Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday announced the release of Rs 45 crore to clear pending payments to apple growers under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for the 2022–2025 procurement seasons.Chairing a meeting of the horticulture department, the CM said payments through direct benefit transfer (DBT) had been made to growers who supplied up to 30 bags of apples, while payments to those who supplied 100 bags or more are now being processed.Mobile app to digitise procurement processSukhu also launched the horticulture MIS website and a mobile application to digitise the entire procurement process, from purchase to processing, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency. Growers will register using Aadhaar, land records and bank details, and can book time slots for selling their produce. Mobile SMS alerts will keep them informed about procurement and payment status.The CM directed officials to deploy adequate staff at collection centres and complete preparations for the upcoming procurement season.
