Rape accused held at Mumbai airport after return from Oman

Kalyan: The prime accused in a Kalyan rape and blackmail case, who allegedly fled to Oman after sexually exploiting a woman on the false promise of marriage, was arrested by Bazarpeth police at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday after immigration authorities detected a look-out circular (LOC) issued against him.The accused, Arbaaz Khan, was taken into custody soon after he landed in Mumbai from Oman, where police said he was working as a chef at a hotel. Airport officials alerted the investigating team after the LOC surfaced during immigration clearance.According to police, Arbaaz befriended a young woman from Kalyan and allegedly established a physical relationship with her by promising to marry her. Investigators alleged that he secretly recorded intimate videos of the woman without her consent.Police claimed that Arbaaz later shared the videos with his associate Moinuddin Khan and another accused, Palalu, and also shared them with his father, Salim Khan, before leaving India. The complaint alleges that after Arbaaz fled abroad, Moinuddin and Palalu repeatedly blackmailed the woman using the videos and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. Salim Khan has also been accused of attempting to sexually assault the victim.Police launched a search for Arbaaz after learning that he escaped to Oman and subsequently secured a look-out circular against him. His return to India led to his immediate detention by immigration officials. While Moinuddin Khan has already been arrested, police said efforts are on to trace the remaining absconding accused, Salim Khan and Palalu.
