Various govt schools in Ludhiana await Khed Pitara kits Karan SharmaLudhiana: The Punjab govt had launched an initiative aimed at transforming classroom learning in govt primary schools across the state through ‘khed Pitara’ kits. These kits were designed to encourage fun, interactive and experimental learning for the children rather than the old school memorization techniques.In March 2026, Punjab education minister Harjot Bains announced that these ‘Khed Pitara’ kits as an initiative by the state government to ensure that the children in primary schools did not experience schooling as a pressure, but as discovery, confidence building and creativity exercise.The ‘Khed Pitara’ kits were to be distributed in around 12,856 govt primary schools across Punjab by April 1 and the state govt’s approximate investment amount was around Rs9.3 crore for the same. The kits include materials like toys, puzzles, activity books, play material along with teacher resource materials for supporting development areas like language, numeracy, creativity and interactive learning through activities.The Ludhiana district has around 996 govt primary schools in various blocks of the district and many have still not received these kits even after the summer break is over and the schools have reopened.A govt primary school teacher from Ludhiana said, “I heard about these kits being distributed by the govt for the students of primary section, but in my school we have not received any such materials or kits asof now. Hopefully this will be addressed soon by the higher authorities.”A center head teacher (CHT) also confirmed that various schools under her charge had also not received the ‘Khed Pitara’ kits.She said,” There are some schools in the city area and some in the ruralareas under my charge as Centre Head Teacher (CHT). As per my knowledgenone of these schools have received any of the kits announced earlier. These schools are using the last year’s material for such activities as of now. Let’s hope that the students and teachers will getthe material as soon as possible by the authorities concerned,” the CHTadded.The education department officials stated that the process of distribution of material was underway and some schools and students had received the kits.Manoj kumar, deputy DEO (primary) said,”There are around 19 blocks inLudhiana where these kits were supposed to be distributed. However theremight be a delay in three-four blocks, i will check with the officials concerned and it will be done.”
