Gandhinagar: Gujarat received the agriculture leadership award for its performance in horticulture at the 17th Agriculture Leadership Conclave held in New Delhi, the state govt informed on Friday.State agriculture minister Jitu Vaghani said that Gujarat received the recognition because of its forward-looking work and innovation in horticulture. He added that Gujarat had previously won the Agriculture Leadership Award as the Best Agriculture State in 2009 and 2014. Thereafter, Gujarat was judged the Best Agriculture State in 2018 and also received the Agriculture Leadership Award in 2019 for its performance in animal husbandry.At the award ceremony, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh, Rajasthan hovernor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Uttar Pradesh agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, former Chief Justice of India and jury chairman P Sathasivam, and other distinguished dignitaries lauded Gujarat‘s progressive agricultural policies and congratulated the Gujarat govt and the state’s farmers on receiving this prestigious honour.
