Kolkata: Amiruddin (alias Bobby), a former Kolkata Municipal Corporation member and ex-mayor-in-council, was allegedly attacked with deadly weapons while he was walking home along with an associate, Md Fahim, on Wednesday night. While Amiruddin escaped unhurt, Fahim sustained injuries and had to be hospitalised with the help of locals.According to a complaint filed by Fahim, a group of 13 people ambushed them near the Qaiyum Sweets crossing on Sir Syed Ahmed Road in central Kolkata’s Beniapukur area around 9.15pm. However, a counter-complaint was also filed, by one Naushad Alam, a local who contested Fahim’s description of events.Police have registered two FIRs and have initiated a probe.
