Gorakhpur: Prominent industrialist and businessman Om Prakash Jalan passed away on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram. He was 72 years old.He had been airlifted to Medanta Hospital on Tuesday following a prolonged illness.A pioneer of Gorakhpur’s steel industry, Om Prakash Jalan was the founder of Jalan Concast, widely regarded as the city’s first steel reinforcement bar (TMT) manufacturing unit.Apart from steel production, he had significant interests in the real estate sector and was also known for his contributions to social causes.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Jalan’s residence on June 25 to inquire about his health and meet family members.During the visit, Yogi interacted with Jalan and extended his wishes for his recovery.Jalan is survived by his wife Poonam Jalan, sons Anuj Jalan and Tanuj Jalan, and other family members.
