8 arrested for disrupting VIP security, attempting to stop Haryana’s CM’s convoy
According to the police, some members of Congress party, violated the prescribed security arrangements

Gurgaon: Eight people were arrested on Friday for allegedly disrupting VIP security arrangements during Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini’s visit, obstructing govt duty and attempting to stop the CM convoy.Later, the police commissioner also took cognizance of the disruption and issued show-cause notices to senior police officials, besides taking action against other officials.“A case has been registered at Civil Lines police station following which police arrested eight people in connection with the incident,” police spokesman Sandeep Turan said, adding, “Police respect citizens’ democratic rights, including the right to peaceful protest. However, no individual or group can use a protest to disrupt law and order, obstruct govt or police duties, block public roads and traffic, or interfere with VIP security arrangements.Those arrested have been identified as Neeraj Yadav, a resident of Manesar; Shiv, a resident of Ghataula; Nikhil, a resident of Bhiwani; Anuj, a resident of Kanhai; Harkesh, a resident of Firoz Gandhi Colony; Aman, a resident of Pataudi Chowk; Rajiv Yadav, a resident of Krishna Nagar; and Harendra, a resident of Tauru in Mewat district.Police said elaborate arrangements had been made for VIP security, law and order and traffic management in view of the CM’s scheduled programme at John Hall in Civil Lines area where he chaired a grievance meeting.According to the police, some members of Congress party, led by local district president Pankaj Dawar, violated the prescribed security arrangements and ignored police directions while staging a protest along the route of the CM convoy.The protesters allegedly came suddenly in front of the convoy and attempted to stop it. They raised anti-govt slogans. When police personnel tried to prevent them and asked them to follow the security arrangements, the protesters pushed and jostled with the policemen, creating a situation that affected law and order as well as the VIP security arrangements.Police said they intervened immediately given the sensitivity of the situation and tried to persuade the protesters to follow the prescribed security arrangements and directions.However, some individuals continued to create a serious disruption to the security arrangements and obstruct govt work, according to the police.“As the CM left after briefing the media, Congress members blocked his way while he was on his way to Gurgaon University and they created ruckus despite repeated warnings and thus they were arrested,” a police officer said.The police commissioner has ordered strict action against police personnel after the disruption in the security cordon.As part of the action, show-cause notices have been issued to DCP (West) and DCP (crime), while the SHO of Civil Lines police station, several police personnel deployed on duty at the spot and the security in charge West have been suspended with immediate effect, according to police.The police commissioner has also ordered a departmental inquiry against the intelligence in charge in connection with the security lapse.
