Jaipur: Voting for Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s 150 wards will be held Friday, with 723 candidates contesting the elections. Around 24 lakh voters are eligible to elect 150 councillors at 2,256 polling booths across the city. Of these, 652 booths — nearly 29% — have been classified as critical by the State Election Commission. Critical polling booths are those identified by authorities as having a higher risk of disturbances, violence, disputes, bogus voting or other law-and-order issues. Extra security, including deployment of additional police personnel, will be provided at these booths, with the administration keeping a close watch on the polling process to ensure peaceful voting. Sanganer has the highest number of polling booths among Jaipur’s assembly constituencies at 329, followed by Vidhyadhar Nagar (298), Bagru (264), Jhotwara (243), Hawa Mahal (241), Adarsh Nagar (237), Civil Lines (234), Malviya Nagar (192) and Kishanpole (176). Amer has the fewest, with 42 booths. The administration and police have completed preparations for Friday’s polling, with security strengthened at critical booths. Additional police personnel will be deployed at these locations, while officials will closely monitor the polling process to respond promptly to any disruption.
