Varanasi: Marking the International Day of Yoga, a six-day special exhibition of books and research materials on yoga is being organised at Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Library from Saturday.Inaugurated by BHU VC Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, the exhibition will remain open daily from 10am to 5pm till June 25.The VC said that such initiatives help create awareness among students and researchers about the importance of yoga, its philosophical foundations and its role in promoting physical and mental well-being. He described yoga as a valuable component of India’s ancient knowledge tradition and stressed the need for its wider dissemination.Librarian Devendra Kumar Singh of Central Library provided information about the collection on display, which includes books, research publications, journals and rare manuscripts related to yoga. He also highlighted the university’s print and digital resources on the subject, along with information about yoga centres established by the Government of India.The exhibition features material covering a broad range of themes, including yoga and spirituality, yoga and health, yogic philosophy, disease prevention through yoga, diverse dimensions of yogic practices and the contributions of saints and spiritual leaders to the development of yoga traditions.Organised in observance of International Yoga Day, the exhibition also showcases the rich and rare collections housed at the Central Library of Banaras Hindu University.The exhibition is open to students, research scholars, faculty members, university employees and members of the public.
