Silchar: Sribhumi police seized 5,800 suspected Yaba tablets near the India-Bangladesh border in Patharkandi on Wednesday night.Acting on intelligence, a Patharkandi police team set up a naka near the Lakshmipur gram panchayat office and intercepted an auto-rickshaw. A search led to the recovery of the tablets concealed in the vehicle, police said.Police seized the tablets, the auto-rickshaw and a mobile phone in the presence of witnesses. Afsar Alam, 20, of Banglatila under Patharkandi police station, was arrested and booked under the NDPS Act. He is being questioned to trace the consignment’s source and the smuggling network.
