Gurgaon: A 42-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by an unidentified pickup vehicle near a govt school in Siwari village under Farrukhnagar police station limits on Monday. Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver, who fled the scene after the accident.The deceased was identified as Bhagwan, a farmer. According to the complaint lodged by his nephew, Aman, he received information around 8pm on July 13 that Bhagwan had been hit by a vehicle near the govt school. When he, along with his uncle Shyam, reached the spot, they found Bhagwan lying unconscious on the road.Aman stated that passers-by informed them that a pickup vehicle, being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner, had hit Bhagwan and fled the spot. They said they could not note down the vehicle’s registration number.Bhagwan was taken to the Civil Hospital in Farrukhnagar. Owing to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.In his complaint, Aman alleged that the accident caused severe head and rib injuries to Bhagwan that proved fatal. He sought legal action against the driver. After receiving information about the death, police shifted the body to the mortuary for autopsy. It was later handed over to the family.Based on the complaint and medical records, police registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.Police said efforts are underway to identify the pickup vehicle and trace the driver involved in the accident. “The accident spot was inspected by forensic and police teams. The investigation has been assigned to ASI Balwant Singh,” a police officer said.
