Bengaluru: Over 40 rescued dogs were put up for adoption at Bengaluru East City Corporation’s Adopt Me–Second Innings campaign Saturday. The event saw participation from 17 animal rescuers, who brought dogs rescued from abandonment, accidents and cruelty.Officials said four dogs were adopted on the spot, while the adoption process for four more is in the final stages. Among the rescued animals were five dogs that had survived cruelty and several specially-abled canines requiring additional care.BECC commissioner DS Ramesh said the initiative aims to help rescued dogs find permanent homes while promoting responsible pet ownership.The campaign, organised in association with Sahavarthin Animal Welfare Trust, also created awareness about vaccination, rabies prevention and animal welfare. Citizens were encouraged to adopt Indian dogs and support rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
