Ahmedabad: As traffic congestion gets denser in the city, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) project to ease snarls at 100 key junctions is slowly moving towards completion. According to sources, work on 37 junctions to reduce congestion is complete. Work is in progress at 12 others, while surveys and design are on for the rest. A year ago, the municipal body had rolled out an ambitious project to improve traffic flow at 100 most-affected junctions to ease traffic flow and reduce accidents besides opening ‘free left’ at busy intersections to reduce waiting time. The free left has been opened at 76 junctions. Officials said special attention has been given to road safety and signages. This includes completing thermoplastic painting over an area of 1,19,000 sq metres, covering centre lines, curb lines, zebra crossings, edge lines and stencil work. Approximately 6,900 traffic signboards, including informatory, cautionary, mandatory and directional boards, have also been installed, the officials added. TNN
