Due to the rain and winds, an electricity wire was drooping over the bridge they were crossing
Surat: Three labourers were electrocuted in Gandevi taluka of Navsari district on Friday morning, when they were among nine persons in a tempo headed to a work site. En route, the tempo carrying them touched a dangling electricity wire. Three of the labourers died while three suffered burns and three were unhurt. Gandevi police registered an unnatural death and began inquiries.Cabinet minister Naresh Patel, who is the MLA from Gandevi, visited the hospital. Patel said: “Nine villagers from Gandeva village were going for work in Kachholi. Due to the rain and winds, an electricity wire was drooping over the bridge they were crossing. Three persons died got electrocuted. We will try and help the families in whatever way is possible.”The deceased are Kalpesh Halpati (27), Nitin Halpati (32) and Jigar Halpati (21). According to police, the workers were going to Kachholi to cut wood. All three were residents of Naher Faliya in Gandeva village.
