Aizawl: Three people were killed and three others sustained injuries after being electrocuted at Sethawn village in Kolasib district, along the Assam-Mizoram highway, on Saturday, according to a Kolasib district police report issued on Sunday.The report said six labourers working on the proposed four-lane highway under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited were electrocuted near RTP Farm in Sethawn village while shifting an electric pole.The workers were employed by a subcontractor, C Vanlalhriat, son of C Tialpuma, of Chawlhmun locality in Aizawl, the report said.“Unfortunately, three out of six persons — Thianhum, 16, son of Hrangliandum of Haikhawl, Myanmar; Lalrinawma, 18, son of Rinmawia of Pathiantlang, Vawnkawnzo, Mamit district, Mizoram; and Lalruatfela, 20, son of Ramsangliana of Thingpuikul, Manipur — all from Bawngkawn in Aizawl, died on the spot. Three others sustained injuries,” the report said.Police sent the bodies to Kolasib district hospital for post-mortem examination on Saturday. The bodies were later handed over to the families.According to the surviving workers, they had switched off the power supply at three different points and did not know how electricity was restored at their work site.
