3 illegal Chembur schools defy closure notices, FIR filed

Mumbai: RCF police have filed an FIR against the managements of three unauthorised schools in Chembur for allegedly continuing to operate despite repeated closure notices issued by BMC’s education department. As per a complaint by Muhammad Shah, the divisional inspector (schools), private primary schools department, BMC, the education department conducted a survey and found 164 unauthorised primary schools functioning in Mumbai in 2025-26. Notices were subsequently issued to the school managements, directing them to shut down or produce valid govt recognition. However, three Chembur schools—Saraswati Shikshaniketan English High School, Ramzan Shah English Primary High School, and Shukla English High School—refused to follow the diktat, said the complaint.
