25-year-old CISF jawan dies of gunshot wound from service rifle at Rajasthan nuclear power plant

JAIPUR: In a suspected case of suicide, a 25-year-old CISF jawan died of a gunshot wound from his service rifle while on duty at a nuclear power plant in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district on Saturday, officials said.Pramir Sarkar, a resident of West Bengal, was deployed outside the reactor building at Rawatbhata when the incident occurred at around 4.30 am, police said.“It prima facie appears to be suicide by his INSAS rifle,” Chittorgarh SP Dharmendra Singh said.According to police, Sarkar’s colleagues rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot and found him lying on the floor with a bullet wound to his chest.He was taken to the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.“The circumstances leading to the incident are being investigated,” the SP said.
