GURGAON: A 24-year-old parking attendant was arrested on Monday, within seven hours of an FIR being registered, for allegedly assaulting a retired Indian Air Force Group Captain and Kargil War veteran following an argument over parking at Magnum Global Park in Gurgaon’s Sector 58.Police received information about the assault on September 11. When a police team contacted the victim, he said in a written letter that he would submit his complaint later.On September 13, the victim submitted a written complaint, stating that he had reached the parking area of Magnum Global Park in Sector 58 on September 10 to park his car. An altercation then broke out between him and the parking attendant over parking the vehicle.During the altercation, one person allegedly assaulted him, causing injuries.Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR at Sector 65 police station under relevant sections of law.Police said they arrested the accused within seven hours of registering the FIR on September 14. The accused was identified as Deepak Mavi, 24, a resident of Kot village in Haryana’s Faridabad district.During interrogation, Mavi told police that he had argued with the complainant over car parking on the day of the incident. In a fit of anger, he picked up an iron pipe lying nearby and struck the complainant on his arm, police said.Police said Mavi works as a parking attendant and had an argument with the complainant over parking the vehicle, following which he allegedly committed the offence.The accused is being questioned in detail about the sequence of events, while further investigation is underway. Police said necessary legal action is also being taken in the case.
