Ludhiana: Twenty graduates from the College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, have been appointed as fishery officers in the Punjab department of fisheries. The appointments were finalised through a competitive recruitment drive conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB).Chief minister Bhagwant Mann handed over the appointment letters to the newly selected officers during a state-level ceremony in Chandigarh.The CM urged the officers to use their professional expertise to advance the fisheries sector. He emphasised the need for holistic development, instructing them to provide essential capacity building, technical hand-holding, and utility services to industry stakeholders.Dr JPS Gill, vice-chancellor of the vet varsity, and Dr Meera D Ansal, dean of the College of Fisheries, expressed confidence in the new officers. They stated that the officers will serve as a valuable resource for the department in achieving Punjab’s long-term fisheries development goals.
