20 students injured as school bus veers off road

Rajkot: Around 20 students were injured after a private school bus veered off the road and fell into the bushes near Gopalgram village of Amreli district’s Dhari taluka on Saturday.The bus was carrying students of OP Jhatakiya High School. While none of them suffered grievous injuries, the accident caused panic among the students. They suffered minor to moderate injuries and were given treatment at a govt hospital.Preliminary investigation revealed that the steering wheel of the bus got locked, causing the driver to lose control. The students were studying in Class 9 and Class 10, and were natives of villages near Gopalgram.Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot immediately and helped rescue the students from the bus.Meanwile, a battery of local politicians from BJP and Congress, campaigning for the ensuing civic polls, russhed to the hospital on learning about the incident and inquired about the conditions.
