LUDHIANA: Two shooters who were sent to fire gunshot at a blood donation camps organised at Pakhowal road bases resort in the memory of slain ex-sarpanch Rajwinder Singh Grewal alias Ravi Khwajke, were shot dead in an encounter by the teams of Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Ludhiana city police near Atam Nagar police post on Sunday afternoon.The shooters were allegedly sent by the wanted gangster Balwinder Singh alias Dony Bal, who is a key operative of Davinder Bambiha gang. Over 25 rounds of gun shots were exchanged by the shooters and the police teams during which some bullets hit the police vehicle, retaliating which the police fired gunshots at the accused who died at the spot after sustaining multiple bullet injuries.The deceased are Karanjot Singh alias Nona and Sandeep Singh- of Amritsar who came to the city on a bike. Besides the bike the police also seized three 9 mm automatic pistols including one Zigana and one Pakistan made Glock pistol from their possession.AGTF’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajan Parminder Singh said, “Ravi Khwajke was shot dead by Bambiha gang in February 2020 at a wedding resort near Gill Road. Today, a blood donation camp was organised in his memory at Pakhowal Road. The shooters were sent by gangster Dony Bal to fire gunshots at the camp. The police suspect that the accused had a particular target to kill at the camp, which is being verified.““Near Atam Nagar, the teams intercepted the accused who fired at the police vehicle multiple times. Retaliating, the police fired back during which the duo died after sustained gun injuries.”
