GURGAON: Two Special Police Officers (SPOs) posted with Nuh police have been discharged from service for alleged negligence in duty and indiscipline, following recommendations from their respective station house officers.The action was taken by Nuh superintendent of police Dr Arpit Jain after examining the reports submitted by the concerned police stations.SPO Manoj Kumar, posted as a driver at Sadar Tauru police station, was accused of consuming alcohol and driving a government vehicle while on duty on June 10. Police officials said that during this period, the vehicle allegedly hit a woman passerby, leaving her injured.“Following the incident, Kumar was medically examined on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol. The doctor noted the smell of alcohol from his mouth.” Nuh police spokesperson said.Police officials further said that Kumar remained absent from duty from the next day onwards without informing senior officers.“The station house officer in his report termed the incident a serious lapse, stating that such conduct affected the image of the police department and recommended strict departmental action.” it added.Another SPO, Narsiram, posted at Nagina police station, was discharged for remaining absent from duty since May 4. Police officials said that despite being contacted by officers over phone, he refused to resume duty.The station authorities termed his conduct as indiscipline and negligence and recommended his removal from service.Police officials said that personnel working in the force are expected to maintain discipline and accountability, and strict action is taken in cases of misconduct. After reviewing the reports and recommendations, the SP issued orders discharging both SPOs from service.
