19kg ganja-infused chocolates seized at railway station

Bengaluru: Uncovering a potential racket, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Bengaluru division, along with state excise department Wednesday busted a man transporting ganja chocolates by rail from Banaswadi railway station.As part of Operation Narcos, RPF seized 19.2kg of ganja-infused chocolates, valued at around Rs 48,500, Wednesday morning. During a drive to detect narcotics trafficking, theft of passenger belongings, child and human trafficking, and unauthorised hawkers and vendors, RPF personnel noticed a man allegedly exhibiting suspicious behaviour near the four-wheeler parking area of the station.The man, officers said, had a red trolley suitcase. “On being intercepted and questioned, the individual admitted that it contained ganja chocolates. The excise department was immediately informed, and its officials promptly reached the spot,” RPF said. The suitcase was examined, confirming the presence of 19.2kg ganja-infused chocolates.Following the completion of all legal formalities, the contraband was seized by excise department, and the individual was arrested. A case was registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.“This is the first time we got information regarding the trafficking of ganja through chocolates. We have seized it and handed it over to excise department, who is investigating it further,” a senior RPF officer told TOI.
