Noida: A 17-year-old boy undergoing treatment at a de-addiction centre in Sector 108 allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday evening. The teenager was found hanging in a bathroom at the centre. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.According to police, the teenager had been getting treatment for a smack addiction at the centre since June 3. Prior to his stay there, he had also been admitted to another centre in Narela, Delhi, but relapsed some time after the original treatment.After staff members found the teenager and took him to the hospital, where he was declared dead, they informed the police, and a team was sent to the spot. A postmortem examination has also been conducted, and the report stated hanging as the cause of death. No external injury marks were found on the body, it added.The teenager’s family told cops the boy had previously attempted suicide twice at home. On both occasions, family members noticed him in time and managed to save him. The incident is being treated as a suicide case, and no police complaint has been filed so far.Police said they are conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death at the de-addiction centre, and the circumstances leading up to the teenager entering the bathroom and taking the extreme step are also being examined.Further action, if required, would be taken based on the findings of the inquiry and postmortem examination, police added.
