BENGALURU: Around 15,000 litres of milk spilled onto the road and another 15,000 litres was left to spoil after a milk tanker overturned in Hebbal in north Bengaluru on Thursday morning.The tanker driver, Raju, sustained injuries in the accident and was in stable condition, police said.The accident occurred on the service road opposite Veterinary College when the tanker was heading towards RT Nagar, police said.The tanker was carrying 30,000 litres of milk and was filled to capacity. Police said driving a tanker carrying a large quantity of liquid requires extra caution as the movement of the liquid can affect the vehicle’s balance, particularly while taking turns.“Raju lost control over the vehicle and it fell on its side,” police said.Police used two cranes and a JCB to lift the overturned tanker. Visuals from the spot showed the truck lying on its side, with several people gathered around the vehicle and cranes being used for the rescue operation.After the tanker overturned, some people collected the spilled milk in bottles while others tried to close the tanker’s cap. Around 15,000 litres of milk spilled out, while the remaining quantity stayed inside the tanker.Police said the remaining milk was likely to spoil by evening as the tanker could not be moved immediately.
