Silchar: A 14-year-old boy died after being buried under soil after a landslide in Betcherra village, police said on Friday.The deceased was identified as Dhantarao Reang, son of Janram Reang and a student of Betcherra LP School.According to residents, Dhantarao went to a nearby forest to collect vegetables on Thursday afternoon. When he did not return home by evening, his family and villagers began searching for him.After several hours, they found him buried under soil in the forest on Thursday evening. It is suspected that loose earth collapsed on him, causing his death.A team from Jamira police station reached the village on Friday morning, recovered the body and sent it to Hailakandi Civil Hospital for an autopsy.The incident cast a pall of gloom over Betcherra and neighbouring areas.
