Ahmedabad: The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) on Saturday announced the first round of seat allotment for postgraduate engineering admissions for the 2026-27 academic year, offering seats to 1,317 candidates across govt, grant-in-aid and self-financed institutions in Gujarat.Admissions were conducted for 4,312 seats out of 5,244 seats available under postgraduate engineering programmes. A total of 1,935 candidates registered for the admission process, including 154 GATE-qualified applicants and 1,781 non-GATE candidates.For non-GATE candidates, the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)-2026 was conducted by Gujarat Technological University on June 27 and 28. Based on GATE scores and PGCET performance, ACPC prepared a combined merit list comprising 1,688 eligible candidates.

According to the admission policy, candidates meeting the prescribed GATE score criteria in their respective categories were given priority during seat allocation. The committee conducted mock rounds before candidates exercised their online choice-filling preferences for the first round.Of the 1,317 seats allotted in Round 1, govt engineering colleges accounted for the highest share with 494 admissions against 749 seats available. Grant-in-aid and autonomous institutions allotted 202 seats out of 429 available, while private colleges allotted 621 seats against an ACPC admission pool of 2,888 seats.Candidates allotted seats in the first round can confirm their admission by paying the prescribed token tuition fee online by July 26.Those seeking an upgrade to a preferred institute or course, or wishing to compete for seats remaining vacant after the first round, will have to submit their online consent and fill fresh choices for the second round between July 27 and July 29.The committee is expected to conduct subsequent rounds to fill the remaining vacant postgraduate engineering seats across participating institutions.
