Mumbai: Thirteen boys, aged between 13 and 16, were rescued from a garment unit at Charkop Industrial Estate where they had been forced into child labour. All the minors hail from West Bengal.Charkop police have registered an FIR against the owner of the unit, Amit Kumar Rawal, and the operations in-charge, Saminoor Shaikh, under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.Police carried out a raid at the unit on August 18, under the supervision of DCP Sandeep Ghuge and senior inspector Mahesh Balwantrao. The children were being forced to work with no regard for their safety and well-being.
