Silchar: Assam Rifles and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Silchar, seized 109.2 kg of Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 327 crore in a joint operation in Assam’s Hailakandi district, officials said on Wednesday.The seizure, described by Assam Rifles as its highest-ever recovery of Yaba, was made during an intelligence-based operation in the Ramnathpur area between Tuesday and Wednesday. One person was arrested in connection with the consignment.The joint team recovered 546 packets containing Yaba tablets weighing 109.2 kg. Two trucks allegedly used to transport the contraband were also seized, officials said.A mobile phone, an Aadhaar card and a driving licence were also recovered during the operation.According to Assam Rifles, the seizure was among the largest Yaba recoveries reported in the region. Investigators are trying to trace the origin and intended destination of the consignment and identify others allegedly involved in the trafficking network.The arrested person, contraband, vehicles and other seized items were handed over to DRI, Silchar, for further investigation and legal action.Officials said the operation was based on specific intelligence and involved coordination and real-time information sharing between Assam Rifles and DRI.
